Cultivating Intimacy with Christ and Each Other
Here at The Church at Rancho Bernardo, we make a BIG deal about small groups. Small groups provide the perfect environment for building close friendships with other people who attend CRB. On different nights of the week, in homes throughout our community and here at the church, people are getting together to study, to share, and grow in their relationship with God. Some CRB small groups use sermon-based, no-homework discussion questions, some study a book of the Bible together and some choose a book to read and discuss. Some are focused for couples, some for singles, and some specifically for men and women and young adults. If you’re looking for a group to join, we’re here to help. Contact Sue Meissner, Director of Small Groups, for more info!
Looking
to join a Small Group?
There are three easy ways to get connected into a small group:
1. Visit the Small Groups table in the Atrium after each worship service where you can fill out an interest card or check out the group studies that are always open to members.
2. Contact Sue Meissner, Director of Small Groups, at sue@thechurchatrb.org /858.592.2434 x311 and include in your message the day of the week that works best for you and the kind of group you are interested in (couples, singles, men’s, women’s, young adult).
3. Fill out the gray info card included in the bulletin and place it in the offering basket or drop off at the Info Center.

New Believers Guide to the Bible
Want to get up close and personal with the bestselling book of all time? Join Dennis Hergert here at CRB on Monday nights, 6:30-8pm, beginning September 22 for a seven-week cover-to-cover study of the Bible. Rich in history, creative expression and spiritual guidance, the Bible points us toward a love relationship with God our Father through Jesus Christ His Son. There is no other book like it in all the world!
Sign up at the Small Groups table in the atrium or contact Dennis at hergert1@aol.com. A study guide, “The Essential Bible Companion,” is available for purchase. Childcare provided for those who register. Don’t miss this opportunity to get to know the Bible as God’s Word for you!
“NO HOMEWORK” SERMON-BASED SMALL GROUPS
The curriculum for most Small Groups is sermon based. This means
that these groups devote their discussion time to digging
deeper into the information from that weekend's message. Find the
Sermon Notes and Small Group Questions in your bulletin weekly.
Each lesson will contain the following elements:
Response to the Sermon - Each week there will be
an opportunity for individuals to share what impacted them in a
personal way.
The Story of Your Life - Each week there will be
a question that gives people an opportunity to share how God has
worked the principle of the week’s message into their personal
lives.
Digging Deeper - The group will be asked to look
up passages that relate to the week’s topic. These may be
verses that were referenced in the study or they may be parallel
passages.
Application - Each week the participants will have
the opportunity to discuss how the truth they have discussed can
be applied to everyday life.
Looking for an occasional study break with your small group?

Here's a new resource for you. DVD Devos. Discussion questions for 15 current and recent films are available via the link below that will provide a good hour or two of discussion, dialogue and Biblical application. All your group has to do is watch the movie during the week and come back the next week ready to discuss the movie's worldview, relevance and takeaway value. It's good to discuss what people are getting fed out of Hollywood and to consider our own reactions to what these films suggest. A wide variety awaits – from chick flicks to action thrillers – all PG 13 or under. Pick the ones you like, skip the ones you don't. And don't forget the popcorn. . .
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you
and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom
and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord and
may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,
growing in the knowledge of God" (Colossians 1:9-10).
