CRB is happy to announce the formation of its very own MOPS group. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and it is specifically designed for moms. At MOPS, you will experience authentic community, mothering support, personal growth and spiritual hope, all to help you be the best mom possible! You can expect to find intimate discussion in a safe small group atmosphere, practical and life applicable teachings, and creative activities that will give you a sense of accomplishment! Join us as we learn how to celebrate motherhood, meet one another’s needs, make lasting connections, and experience God’s amazing love!
This group will begin Tuesday, September 23, 9:30-11:30am and will meet the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month onsite at CRB. Childcare will be available. The Samaritan Ministry is looking for someone who would coordinate meals for those who are recovering from recent illnesses or hospitalization. Caregiver Relief Team Volunteers work in pairs to to offer a couple hours a month of assistance and relief (everything from babysitting to gardening) for individuals who are caring for someone 24/7. Staff Spotlight: Heidi Schmitter-Hicok - Children's Ministry Coordinator |
 My name is Heidi Schmitter-Hicok. My husband, Kevin and I are blessed abundantly with many children in our blended family: Christopher, 24; Caty, 20; Cameron, 17; Lauren,15; Anna, 13; Cristina, 11; Lexi, 6; and Kevin Charles Jr. (a.k.a. Charlie, 3 yrs old). Each day of our lives is another page in a Child Development and Psychology book! I grew up and lived most of my life in Minnesota and during that time I spent a number of years volunteering and then working as the Director of Children's Ministries at a large Methodist Church. In 2001, God took my family on a crazy journey to North Carolina, then to Maryland, and finally to sunny San Diego. We have attended CRB since the fall of 2004, and during this past year, I've had the pleasure of volunteering in Promiseland with Pastor Faye. As He does so often, God opened the door to this position for me through a series of circumstances that could only have been laid in place by His hand.
I am thrilled to join Pastor Faye and the entire Children's Ministry team in this brand new role of Children's Ministry Coordinator. My hope and vision for this new path is to create an exciting, fun, and nurturing environment for the children of CRB to learn about God and Jesus Christ and how to apply what they've learned in their everyday lives. While the continued implementation of quality curriculum, music and special programming/events is critical to providing a solid foundation for our children's faith, the vision God has put before me is one in which the faith journeys of the kids are connected with their families and the rest of the CRB community. With your help I am confident that God will do amazing things in the time ahead. He always does. |
